Installation and Usage Instructions

Please note: The Extended WPF Toolkit is dependent on Silverlight 4 or 5. You must install Silverlight 4 or 5 in order to use any features in the Toolkit.

Instructions for using the Extended Silverlight Toolkit binaries:

  1. Install the Silverlight developer runtime
  2. Download the ExtendedSilverlightToolkit_Binaries
  3. Unblock the ZIP file
    1. Right-click ExtendedSilverlightToolkit_Binaries.zip -> Properties -> Unblock
  4. Unzip ExtendedSilverlightToolkit_Binaries.zip
  5. Reference the binaries in your project:
    1. Xceed.Silverlight.Data.v.2.0.dll
    2. Xceed.Silverlight.Controls.v.2.0.dll
    3. Xceed.Silverlight.Data.Controls.v2.0.dll (listbox use only)
    4. Xceed.Silverlight.DataGrid.v.2.0.dll (datagrid use only)
    5. Xceed.Silverlight.ListBox.v2.0.dll (listbox use only)
  6. If you are connecting the DataGrid or the ListBox to a WCF RIA Services data source, also reference:
    1. Xceed.Silverlight.Data.RiaServices.v2.0.dll
  7. For projects built with Silverlight 5, add the following SDK assembly references:
    1. System.Windows.Controls
    2. System.Data.Services.Client
  8. Add the following using statements in your .cs files:
    1. using Xceed.Silverlight.Data;
    2. using Xceed.Silverlight.Controls;
    3. using Xceed.Silverlight.DataGrid; (datagrid use only)
    4. using Xceed.Silverlight.ListBox; (listbox use only)
  9. Add a new xmlns (for example, xmlns:sldg="http://schemas.xceed.com/silverlight/xaml/datagrid") to the top of XAML files
    1. Remember to use the namespace prefix (in the above example, <sldg: ...>) in the body of your XAML
